North Dakota
North Dakota's State Capitol, in Bismarck, is one of only four skyscraper capitols (along with Nebraska, Louisiana, and Florida). Built in the early 1930's, it doesn't look too spectacular on the outside, but inside it really does look like a capitol building. Just why the good people of North Dakota thought they needed a skyscraper in the vastness of North Dakota's prairie is beyond me. They certainly didn't lack real estate, there being in North Dakota approximately one square mile for every ten people (in 1930 and also now). |
