Massachusetts State House
Boston's beautiful State House, overlooking Boston Commons, is one of the few capitols in the country built of brick. It is situated on property once owned by John Hancock, the patriot who signed the Declaration of Independence in large script, so King George wouldn't have to put on his spectacles to read it. Inside are several interesting displays, including this old American flag. Looking up into the dome, you can see the artistry showered upon this structure. As you look around inside the building, you might become aware that you have no idea how to get back out. But no problem; the people who work there are friendly and helpful. Several of them gave me directions to the exits when they saw me wandering around bewildered. Evening falls on the golden dome of this magnificent State House. |
