South Sister, Middle Sister (not easily seen), North Sister on the left, Broken Top on the right, from the Pine Marten Lodge level on Mt. Bachelor, in mid-August.
Although Indians never actually made their homes in this region, they did camp here autumns, taking advantage of the area's plants, animals, and obsidian. They probably thought of the peaks being a "family" of mountains also. Early white pioneers named the three mountains Faith, Hope, and Charity. They have had other names, also. In the area, there are mountains named Bachelor, Wife, Husband, Little Brother, etc. And there are towns nearby named Sisters and Brothers. I think someone had a fixation.
