As you can see, the Esplanade is an urban walkway. Located near the I-5 and I-84 interchanges and ramps to downtown Portland, it skirts the freeway for a short distance, and passes under ramps and bridges. And of course for its full length the Esplanade hugs the mighty Willamette.
