The Las Vegas Nevada Temple

The Las Vegas Temple

The Las Vegas Temple

Another gray sky. Las Vegas has about 350 blue skies a year; why it had to be gray the day I visited beats me.

The Las Vegas Temple is located in a residential area. This is not unusual; so are some of the others I have visited. When I visited the Washington, D.C., temple several years ago, I recall a man at the information center saying, "We build for permanence." Several of the new temples are built near freeways. It seems to me that building near a freeway is not building for permanencethe exhaust fumes will eat away at the rock and eventually the building will be unusable. So I was glad to see that the Las Vegas Temple was built a long ways from a freeway. Air quality in Las Vegas is none too good anyway.

This temple was built in 1989.
