Ray Mark's Columns

Ray's columns appeared in the Auburn (Washington) Globe-Republican (later renamed Globe-News) in 1942 and 1944.

"School Chatter" and "Mark My Word!" were written while Ray was a junior at Auburn High School, and are the school news column for the paper.

School Chatter!: 4/24/1942: "How do you do, Mr. and Mrs. Auburn, Washington, and all you kids in school--Let's go to press. . . ."

Mark My Word!: 5/1/1942: "We all marched quietly and in order, it says here, to the auditorium. . . ."

Mark My Word!: 5/15/1942: [Beginning not readable]

Mark My Word!: 5/22/1942: "Let's start proceedings this time with the following Pome. . . ."

Mark My Word!: 5/29/1942: "Me again. Yes, dear friends, Mr. Leslie just wouldn't permit me to quit. . . ."

"Postmark" columns were written while Ray was a postman, in 1944.

Postmark: 8/2/1944: "Today we are going to talk about me. Oh, yes we are. It's my typewriter. . . ."

Postmark: 8/9/1944: "All the apartment windows were wide open, and the cool night air. . . . "

Postmark: 9/6/1944: Not available due to defective microfiche.
