Oneonta Gorge

If you walk through that narrow gorge you come to the Oneonta Gorge Botanic Study area. The trail was under water at the time the two photos above were taken, as it usually is (March 1999).

A log jam has been blocking access to Oneonta Gorge, but I think you can get in there now (December 2001) if you can scramble over rocks and logs. It's not an easy trail to walk (when you are in your seventies and not in prime physical condition), at least from the highway to the gorge entrance. I haven't been in the interesting, narrow part yet. Some day.

This view is on the way back out, near the highway. Sure is pretty in there.

And then this one is looking back in again, from the old original highway bridge, in the winter
